Doane Academy's Athletic Department is a community of athletes, coaches, and staff whose primary focus is to facilitate academic excellence while building teams who are committed to athletic competition and outstanding individual performance.
At Doane, character development and physical development go hand-in-hand. Our athletic programs embody the ideals of physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill improvement. The student athletes' commitment to excellence and leadership provides a backdrop against which they can maximize their own potential. To ensure that students at Doane Academy reap these benefits, students are encouraged to participate in athletics at the middle school level (beginning in grade 6); and all students in grades 9-12 are required to participate in at least one sport per school year.
Lower school students in grades prek-6 participate weekly in physical education classes. Click here for more information regarding the lower school physical education program.
Boys and girls in grades 6-8 compete against other middle school teams in soccer (co-ed), boys basketball, and girls basketball.
Students in grades 9-12 compete at the varsity level in the Penn- Jersey Athletic Association in baseball, boys and girls basketball, cross country, boys and girls soccer, and softball. The crew (co-ed) team competes regionally as independents.
Penn- Jersey Athletic Association teams include: Barrack Hebrew Academy (PA), City Center Academy (PA), Girard College (PA), International Christian (PA), Life Center (NJ), Mercy Vo- Tech (PA), Morrisville (PA), New Jersey United Christian (NJ), Pine Forge Academy (PA), Solebury School (PA), Doane Academy (NJ), Villa Victoria (NJ).
As of the fall of 2013, our varsity athletic teams with the exception of crew are members of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association. Our teams compete at the Non-Public Group B level for state tournaments held at the end of each season.
